Softball Recap: North Point Wins Going Away Against Lackey

North Point never let their opponents score on Monday. They blew past the Lackey Chargers 10-0. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won four matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

Alyssa Blaney made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Sophia Weedin was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Emily Yanick was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

The victory made it two in a row for North Point and bumps their season record up to 5-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Lackey, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Coming up, North Point will be playing at home against Patuxent at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Patuxent has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.75 runs per game on average), something North Point will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Lackey, they will face off against Huntingtown on Wednesday. Huntingtown will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Lackey surely won't give up without a fight.
