Baseball Recap: Cherry Hill East Comes Up Short

Cherry Hill East came into their game on Monday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Lenape Indians, falling 16-8. The loss continues a trend for the Cougars in their meetings with the Indians: they've now lost three in a row.

Nathan Dekerlegand and Zach Salsbery stepped up to the plate in a big way. Dekerlegand went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI, while Salsbery went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. That RBI was Dekerlegand's first of the season.

Cherry Hill East's record now sits at 4-3-2. As for Lenape, with the win, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cherry Hill East will face off against Cherokee at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lenape, they will challenge Haddonfield at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldawgs' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Indians' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
