Last week, North Iredell took on West Iredell. North Iredell's defense put the team in a good position heading into the break, holding West Iredell to a measly six points. That put North Iredell at a 10 - 6 advantage. Unfortunately, the defense lost its edge in the second half, allowing 22 points. The net result was a 28 - 17 loss.
As for Lake Norman, it breezed past Alexander Central with a final score of 45 - 21. With four TDs, junior running back Cole Jackson was a significant factor in the success. Jackson has now scored at least one TD in the past eight consecutive games.
A win for North Iredell would reverse both its bad luck and Lake Norman's good luck. We'll see if North Iredell manages to pull off that tough task or if Lake Norman keeps its momentum going instead.
