Baseball Recap: Liberty Patriots vs. Moorpark Musketeers

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Liberty had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Moorpark Musketeers and snuck past 6-5. Winning may never get old, but Liberty sure is getting used to it with their 20th in a row.

Cash Gerecke looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, Liberty saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brock Thompson, who went 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBI, and a double. The team also got some help courtesy of Grant Voss, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with an RBI.

On Moorpark's side, AJ Mai was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with a home run and two runs. Cameron Johnson was another key contributor, going 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBI.

Even though they lost, Moorpark lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Liberty has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 22 of their last 23 games, which provided a nice bump to their 32-4 record this season. As for Moorpark, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 21-12-1.
