Softball Recap: St. John XXIII Comes Up Short

St. John XXIII and Antonian Prep squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but St. John XXIII had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Apaches by a score of 2-0. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Lions' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

St. John XXIII saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Camila Melendez, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

St. John XXIII has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season. As for Antonian Prep, the victory (which was their 17th in a row) raised their record to 24-7.

St. John XXIII does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Antonian Prep, they will take on St. Pius X at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Apaches are on an 11-game streak of home wins, the Panthers a three-game streak of away wins, meaning someone's leaving a streak behind.
