Baseball Recap: Oakes Comes Up Short

Oakes was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the Oak Grove Lutheran Grovers. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Zade Heier put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off three hits. Oakes is 2-1 when Heier allows one or fewer earned runs, but 0-5 otherwise. Heier was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple was his first of the season.

Heier wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Andrew Undem, who went 2-for-3 with one run. Landon Titus also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Oakes' defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Oak Grove Lutheran, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-5.

As of now, neither Oakes nor the Grovers have any future games scheduled.
