Leading Chopticon to victory were Braylon Harrison and Jordan Pernell. Harrison scored 16 points along with nine rebounds, while Pernell scored 21 points along with six rebounds and five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Pernell has scored all season. Iverson Hill was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Leonardtown's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Landon Windell, who scored eight points. Another player making a difference was Aaron Green, who scored four points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Even though they lost, Leonardtown smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Chopticon's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.6 points per game. As for Leonardtown, their loss dropped their record down to 6-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chopticon will take on McDonough at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. McDonough knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Chopticon likes a good challenge. As for Leonardtown, they will head out on the road to challenge La Plata at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully La Plata focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 30 on Friday.
