Softball Game Preview: Norton Lancers vs. Medfield Warriors

Norton has gone 8-2 against Medfield recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Lancers will square off against the Warriors at 4:30 p.m. Norton will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.

On Thursday, Norton beat Millis 5-1.

Liana Danubio spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Leah Worthley was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April.

Norton hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Medfield came up short against Medway on Thursday, falling 18-12. The Warriors haven't had much luck with the Mustangs recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Norton pushed their record up to 14-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 10.8 runs. As for Medfield, their loss dropped their record down to 4-9.

Norton was able to grind out a solid victory over Medfield in their previous matchup back in April, winning 5-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lancers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
