Avon Grove dropped their record down to 11-2 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Downingtown East Cougars by a score of 1-0. Having soared to a lofty 17 runs in the game before, the Red Devils' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

As for Downingtown East, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-5. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games.

For Downingtown East's part, not much got past Sam Wendig, who gave up just two hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Avon Grove off the board. Wendig has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
