Football Recap: IMG Academy State Takes a Loss

If IMG Academy State was feeling good fresh off their 54-34 takedown of Ida Baker last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Ascenders were beaten by the Bayshore Bruins 57-7 on Thursday. The Ascenders were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 51-0.

It was another big night for Jaydis Wiley, who threw for 257 yards and five TDs while completing 80% of his passes, and also rushed for 34 yards and a pair of scores for Bayshore. Jayden Gibson also helped with two touchdowns in total.

IMG Academy State now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Bayshore, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-1.

Coming up, IMG Academy State will welcome Out-of-Door Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Thunder's defense has only allowed 8.5 points per game this season, so the Ascenders' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Bayshore, they will head out on the road to square off against Booker at 7:30 p.m. on the 26th. The match will give the Bruins their first taste of in-conference action this season.
