Softball Game Preview: Andrew Jackson Volunteers vs. Lancaster Bruins

Andrew Jackson hasn't had much luck against Lancaster recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Volunteers will look to defend their home field against the Bruins at 6:00 p.m.

Andrew Jackson is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 11 runs on Saturday, they were much more limited against T.L. Hanna on Saturday. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Yellow Jackets. The Volunteers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Lancaster had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 win over Camden on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bruins have posted since March 20, 2024.

Brylen Lisenby looked comfortable as she tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Cameryn Cauthen, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Sheridyn Mickles, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Lancaster hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 4-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

The win got Lancaster back to even at 7-7. As for Andrew Jackson, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-5.

Andrew Jackson was able to grind out a solid victory over Lancaster in their previous meeting back in March of 2022, winning 3-0. Do the Volunteers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bruins turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
