Softball Recap: King Takes a Loss

King extended their losing streak to 25 on Tuesday, dropping them down to 2-28. They came up short against the North Shore Mustangs, falling 12-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mustangs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-2 back in March.

King saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Haley Jones, who went 1-for-2 with one home run.

As for North Shore, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-14-1 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by six runs or more this season.

On North Shore's side, Iliana Jimenez spent all five innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits. Jimenez has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jada Duncan, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexis Stuart, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

Looking ahead, King will square off against Humble at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.79 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for North Shore, they will take on Summer Creek at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs' pitching crew has only allowed two runs per game this season, so the Mustangs' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
