Basketball Game Preview: Jordan Warriors vs. Mayde Creek Rams

Two dominant guards in Jaden Holt and Christian Gibson are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Jordan Warriors will challenge the Mayde Creek Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Mayde Creek will be up against a hot Jordan squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. Jordan strolled past Tompkins with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 68-53. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 11th, while the Falcons are ranked 353rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Mayde Creek was able to grind out a solid win over Katy Taylor on Friday, taking the game 76-63.

Mayde Creek's win came from a few key players Jordan will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jamal Chretien II, who posted 19 points and five rebounds. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Gibson, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 14 boards.

Jordan's victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 29-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.3 points over those games. As for Mayde Creek, they now have a winning record of 15-14.

Jordan strolled past Mayde Creek in their previous matchup back in January by a score of 66-48. The rematch might be a little tougher for Jordan since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
