Basketball Game Preview: Schaumburg Saxons vs. Fremd Vikings

Schaumburg is 0-10 against Fremd since February of 2021 but things could change on Tuesday. The Schaumburg Saxons will head out to challenge the Fremd Vikings at 7:15 p.m.

Schaumburg is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game on Saturday. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 45-39 heartbreaker at the hands of Proviso East. While losing is never fun, the Saxons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 450th, while the Pirates are ranked 220th).

Meanwhile, Fremd entered their tilt with Barrington on Thursday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Fillies/Broncos 74-38. The Vikings have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 18 matches by 21 points or more this season.

Fremd has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 21-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.3 points per game. As for Schaumburg, their loss dropped their record down to 7-19.

Schaumburg was dealt a bruising 68-24 defeat at the hands of Fremd in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. Can Schaumburg avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
