Baseball Recap: Devine Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Geneva, Devine was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They walked away with a 7-2 win over the Antonian Prep Apaches.

Alejandro Ramirez tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Devine is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-3 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Gerardo Villasenor was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Rudy Costilla also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Devine was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .381. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in five consecutive games.

Devine's record now sits at 3-4. As for Antonian Prep, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-2.

Coincidentally, Devine and Antonian Prep will both be playing Bandera the next time they take the field. The Apaches will head out to face the BULLDOGS at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, while the Warhorses / Arabians will play them later in the day, at 3:00 p.m.
