Baseball Game Preview: Carroll Cougars vs. Eastern Comets

The Carroll Cougars will head out on the road to take on the Eastern Comets at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Carroll is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.

Carroll's hitters will try to repeat the strong performance they gave on Friday, when they got past Tri-County's usually-dominant pitching crew. The Cougars walked away with an 11-7 victory over the Cavaliers.

Owen Zinn was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Hammond, who went 3-for-5 with two runs and one stolen base.

Carroll was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Eastern). They were the clear victors by a 26-7 margin over Southwood on Friday. The Comets haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Eastern pushed their record up to 17-5 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Carroll, their record is now 5-13.
