Recap: Alleghany Trojans vs. East Wilkes Cardinals
It was a good run, but The Alleghany Trojans unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They were the victim of a tough 33-7 defeat at the hands of East Wilkes. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Alleghany in their matchups with East Wilkes: they've now lost five in a row.
Mack LeMasters threw for 59 yards and a touchdown. Zander Russell was his top target, picking up 50 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Leading East Wilkes to victory were Austin Nash and Tristan Alkire. Nash rushed for 61 yards and three touchdowns, while Alkire rushed for 151 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries. Alkire was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 68 yards.
Alleghany now has a losing record at 4-5. As for East Wilkes, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Alleghany will be playing in front of their home fans against Mount Airy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Mount Airy has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 505 points over their last nine games. As for East Wilkes, they will head out on the road to face off against North Stokes at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. North Stokes has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since August 18th.
