Softball Recap: Inchelium's Victory on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Inchelium put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against the Almira-Coulee-Hartline Warriors as they made off with a 14-3 win. Considering the Hornets have won three matches by more than ten runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Marissa Burch and Hailey Peone were a major factor while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Burch tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Meanwhile, Peone tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Burch has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Burch scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while Peone scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Isabella Finley was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Keirdan McLaughlin, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs.

Inchelium kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.

Inchelium's victory was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.0 runs over those games. As for Almira-Coulee-Hartline, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Inchelium beat the Warriors by a score of 19-4 later that day.
