Soccer Game Preview: Sultana vs. Palos Verdes

The Sultana Sultans will square off against the Palos Verdes Sea Kings at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a five-game winning streak alive.

Sultana is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over Ayala. Paulino Acosta-Arellano had the honor of scoring the game-winner for the Sultans.

Meanwhile, while the 0-0 score might suggest a draw, it was Palos Verdes who was credited with the win on Saturday. Palos Verdes got it done in the shootout by posting four goals to Upland's three. Given the Sea Kings' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked fourth, while the Highlanders/Scots are ranked 77th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Palos Verdes' victory bumped their record up to 16-4. As for Sultana, they pushed their record up to 17-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home.
