Bishop Gorman to battle Findlay Prep in Nevada

Nevada's two big-name teams to meet Saturday.

Findlay Prep (Henderson) takes a break from its barnstorming tour to meet Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas) Saturday at UNLV's Cox Pavilion.

Findlay, which is ranked No. 13 in the latest MaxPreps Xcellent 25 boys basketball rankings presented by the Army National Guard, is fresh off two wins at the Hoophall Classic in Springfield, Mass. The Pilots (19-2) beat Bishop Manogue 93-75 in their only other game against Nevada competition.

Findlay Prep is not eligible for the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association playoffs.

Findlay Prep features a talented trio of seniors in point guard Myck Kabongo (Texas), guard Nick Johnson (Arizona) and forward Amir Garrett (St. John's). Sophomore guard Nigel Williams-Goss has verbally committed to UNLV.



Gorman (13-4) lost 79-63 to top-ranked St. Patrick (Elizabeth, N.J.) at the Hoophall Classic. The Gaels, who are the two-time defending state champions, are led by swingman Shabazz Muhammad. The standout junior is No. 4 on the Maxpreps list of 2012 Top Players to Watch and is averaging 26.2 points and 6.9 rebounds. He is reportedly looking at Duke, Memphis, North Carolina, UCLA and UNLV among others.
