Softball Recap: Mcgavock Wins Going Away Against Hume-Fogg

McGavock's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They were the clear victor by a 14-2 margin over the Hume-Fogg Blue Knights. With that victory, the Raiders brought their scoring average up to 7.4 runs per game.

Amanda Toth made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single hit and allowed only one earned run while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single hit, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 2-for-2. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season.

In other batting news, McGavock let Riley Phillips and Makenzie Kilby run wild. Phillips scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3, while Kilby scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-1. The dominant performance gave Phillips a new career-high in stolen bases. Another player making a difference was Jasmine Dahl, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

McGavock hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in three consecutive games.

The win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-3.

Coming up, McGavock will challenge Whites Creek at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hume-Fogg, they will take on Lawson at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hume-Fogg has now lost nine straight dating back to last season, leaving the team hunting for their first win since the 29th.
