Football Game Preview: Sayville Golden Flashes vs. Smithtown West

The Sayville Golden Flashes will venture away from home to challenge Smithtown West at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Sayville's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.

Sayville is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took their game on Friday with ease, bagging a 62-14 victory over Hauppauge. The win continues a trend for the Golden Flashes in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won six in a row.

Sayville got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Timmy Holahan out in front who rushed for 90 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Frank Hanley, who rushed for 78 yards and one TD on only seven carries.

Meanwhile, Smithtown West took a blow against East Hampton-Bridgehampton-Pierson on Saturday, falling 45-7. The loss was Smithtown West's first of the season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Smithtown West fell to 3-1. As for Sayville, their win bumped their record up to 4-0.

Everything went Sayville's way against Smithtown West in their previous meeting back in September of 2023, as Sayville made off with a 28-7 victory. Will the Golden Flashes repeat their success, or do Smithtown West have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
