Recap: Brennan Bears vs. Sotomayor WILDCATS
The Brennan Bears entered their tilt with the Sotomayor WILDCATS with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Brennan took their game at home on Saturday with ease, bagging a 38-7 victory over Sotomayor. Considering Brennan has won three matchups by more than 30 points this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Brennan found their leader in underclassman Micai Thompson, who rushed for 80 yards and two touchdowns. Malik White and his 82 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Brennan's win.
When it comes to explaining why Sotomayor lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jayden Gutierrez. Despite the final result, he rushed for 103 yards and a touchdown.
Even if they lost, Sotomayor's defensive line sure didn't make it easy: Brennan's QB was sacked three times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Cameron Grady and his two sacks.
Brennan's win was their seventh straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 8-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 40.9 points per game. As for Sotomayor, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-5.
Brennan will head out on the road to face off against Holmes at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Holmes will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 847th, while Brennan is ranked 166th). As for Sotomayor, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against O'Connor at 2:00 p.m.
