Preview: Overton Bobcats vs. Father Ryan Irish
Overton is 0-3 against Father Ryan since December of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Overton Bobcats are on the road again and play against the Father Ryan Irish at 7:30 p.m. on December 4th. One thing working in Overton's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
Even though Glencliff scored an imposing 60 points on Friday, Overton still came out on top. Overton strolled past Glencliff with points to spare, taking the game 76-60. Given Overton's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 114th, while Glencliff is ranked 303rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Overton relied on the efforts of William Livingston, who scored 21 points, and William Carter, who scored 28 points. The match was Carter's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaleb Hurt, who scored 9 points.
Meanwhile, Father Ryan put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Centennial by a score of 35-25.
Overton pushed their record up to 5-0 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.7 points per game. As for Father Ryan, their victory bumped their record up to 5-0.
Overton suffered a grim 63-43 defeat to Father Ryan in their previous meeting back in December of 2022. Can Overton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
