Baseball Game Preview: Grafton Clippers vs. Smithfield Packers

The Grafton Clippers are taking a road trip to square off against the Smithfield Packers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Grafton will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

On Wednesday, Grafton beat Jamestown 5-2.

Meanwhile, Smithfield fell victim to York and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Falcons. The Packers have struggled against the Falcons recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Grafton's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.4 runs over those games. As for Smithfield, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.

Grafton couldn't quite get it done against Smithfield when the teams last played back in March as they fell 5-2. Can the Clippers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
