Basketball Recap: Sonoraville Comes Up Short

Sonoraville lost against Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Sonoraville Phoenix were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 65-64 to the Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe Warriors. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Saturday (62), the Phoenix still had to take the loss.

Leading Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe to victory were Jared Mitchell and Quintaris Tanner-Garrett. Mitchell went 7 for 11 on his way to 15 points and eight rebounds, while Tanner-Garrett went 7 of 17 en route to 20 points and six steals. Those six steals gave Tanner-Garrett a new career-high. Champion Bowman was another key player, putting up seven points and five boards.

Sonoraville's loss dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.

Sonoraville will square off against North Murray at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Sonoraville knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully North Murray likes a good challenge. As for Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe, they will challenge Rockmart at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
