Basketball Recap: Greater Atlanta Christian Piles Up the Points Against St. Vincent's

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Greater Atlanta Christian had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 65-27 victory over the St. Vincent's Saints. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 109th, while the Saints are ranked 328th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Greater Atlanta Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Barri Newman, who shot 44% from the field to rack up 19 points along with five boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Austin-Perry, who went 6-for-11 en route to 17 points and five rebounds.

Greater Atlanta Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. They are 14-7 when they hit their own glass that hard.

Despite the loss, St. Vincent's still got an impressive performance from Adrianna Thomas-Hines, who posted ten points.

Greater Atlanta Christian's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 16-12. As for St. Vincent's, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-11.

Greater Atlanta Christian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 45-40 victory against Athens Academy on the 21st. St. Vincent's does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
