Softball Game Preview: Burges Mustangs vs. Eastlake Falcons

Burges is 0-5 against Eastlake since April of 2016 but things could change on Thursday. The Burges Mustangs will take on the Eastlake Falcons in a tournament on Thursday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Burges fell victim to Hanks and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Knights, falling 16-0.

Meanwhile, Eastlake came up short against Americas on Tuesday and fell 6-2.

Eastlake got a good showing from Ava Licerio, who pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. That's the fewest hits Licerio has allowed over her last eight games.

On the hitting side, Samantha Ponce was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Eastlake's defeat dropped their record down to 10-5. As for Burges, they now have a losing record of 7-8.

Burges came up short against Eastlake in their previous matchup on Thursday, falling 7-2. Can Burges avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
