Basketball Game Preview: Colonial Heights Colonials vs. Meadowbrook Monarchs

Colonial Heights hasn't had much luck against Meadowbrook recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Colonial Heights Colonials are taking a road trip to face off against the Meadowbrook Monarchs at 7:15 p.m. Colonial Heights is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.1 points per game this season.

Colonial Heights is likely headed into the match with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Southampton on Tuesday. Colonial Heights fell 87-80 to Southampton. While losing is never fun, the Colonials can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 298th, while the Indians are ranked 133rd).

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Cameron Hartsoe, who almost dropped a double-double on 29 points and nine rebounds. His evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cartier Coleman, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 11 boards.

Even though they lost, Colonial Heights smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in six consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Meadowbrook was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 60-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Deep Run.

Meadowbrook now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Colonial Heights, their loss dropped their record down to 4-10.

Things could have been worse for Colonial Heights, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 79-64 loss to Meadowbrook in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. Can Colonial Heights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
