Softball Recap: North Greene Comes Up Short

North Greene had lost four straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 2-9 to make it five. They lost 10-0 to the Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia Trojans. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Spartans of the 15-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

As for Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games.

For Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia's part, Mylee Tracy made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Tracy has posted since April 1st. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played.

In other batting news, Mia McCombs was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two triples, two runs, and two RBI. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Rohn, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. North Greene will welcome New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Vipers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.87 runs per game on average), something the Spartans will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Barry Western at 4:30 p.m. on May 6.
