Softball Recap: Sparks Comes Up Short

Sparks dropped to 5-16 on Tuesday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They fell just short of the South Tahoe Vikings by a score of 11-9. Even though they lost, the Railroaders' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.1 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Britzeria Pizana made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Pamela Ocegueda, who earned one run and three stolen bases.

As for South Tahoe, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-11. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.2 runs over those games.

On South Tahoe's side, Kailani Higgins was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Samantha Ebright, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.

Sparks didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 20-3 win against Wooster on the 15th. As for South Tahoe, they will square off against Debbie Smith CTE Academy at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
