Baseball Recap: Marmion Triumphs

Marmion never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They won by a run and slipped past the Aurora Central Catholic Chargers 1-0. That's two games straight that the Cadets have won by just one run.

Jack Hughes looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Marmion saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nate Bostrand, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI. Those two hits gave Bostrand a new career-high.

The win made it two in a row for Marmion and bumps their season record up to 18-11-1. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for Aurora Central Catholic, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 14-13.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Marmion will challenge IC Catholic Prep at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. As for Aurora Central Catholic, they will face off against Westminster Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Warriors will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Chargers surely won't give up without a fight.
