Volleyball Recap: Basic Wolves vs. Las Vegas Wildcats
Basic extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 1-5. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Las Vegas Wildcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 on Thursday.
Jaylin Richardson paced Basic's offense, picking up eight kills. Richardson got some help from Brinley Danczak and her nine assists. Richardson was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.
As for Las Vegas, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-4. While they didn't have the best season last year (they finished 13-23), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Leading Las Vegas to victory were Veanka Escobedo and Constanze Mangano. Escobedo had 12 digs and one assist, while Mangano had ten digs and seven kills. Mangano is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had six or more in each of the last 11 games she's played.
Basic didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-1 defeat against Pahrump Valley on the 30th. As for Las Vegas, they have also already played their next game, a 2-0 loss against Coronado on the 29th.
