Preview: Logansport Berries vs. Marion Giants
Logansport is 1-9 against Marion since February of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Logansport Berries will look to defend their home court against the Marion Giants at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Saturday, Logansport was able to grind out a solid win over Lewis Cass, taking the game 58-49.
The match pitted two dominant players against one another in Jacob Taylor and L.j. Hillis. Taylor had a solid game and dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. Meanwhile, Hillis did his best for the losing side, scoring 18 points.
Meanwhile, Marion's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They fell to Lafayette Jefferson 78-72. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Saturday (58), Marion still had to take the loss.
The losing side was boosted by Jaymen Townsend, who scored 23 points along with nine rebounds and six assists. Amar Rogers was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Even though they lost, Marion were working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Logansport's victory bumped their record up to 7-8. As for Marion, their defeat was their fifth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 5-9.
Logansport lost to Marion at home by a decisive 57-42 margin when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Thankfully for Logansport, Jamerion Fouce (who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
