Softball Recap: West Marion Triumphs

While West Marion's win against Lawrence County wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Trojans skirted past the Cougars 11-10. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Trojans, who until this game were averaging 2.29 runs allowed.

The team relied heavily on Baylee Parrett, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gracie Odom, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

With the victory, West Marion broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 18-3. As for Lawrence County, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Marion will take on Tylertown at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Trojans are facing the Chiefs at the right time seeing as the Chiefs are stuck on an 11-game losing streak. As for Lawrence County, they will challenge Purvis at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Tornadoes will roll in looking for their 12th straight win, something the Cougars surely won't give up without a fight.
