Basketball Game Preview: Fairview Knights vs. Longmont Trojans

The Fairview Knights will challenge the Longmont Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Fairview sitting on three straight wins and Longmont on four.

On Saturday, Fairview strolled past Rocky Mountain with points to spare, taking the game 62-44. Given the Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 38th, while the Lobos are ranked 141st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Trevor Ochs and Spencer Brown were among the main playmakers for Fairview as the former went 9 for 13 on his way to 22 points and the latter went 6 of 13 en route to 18 points along with eight assists and four steals. Those eight assists gave Brown a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Mangine, who posted six points.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Fairview was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rocky Mountain only racked up six assists.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Longmont). They breezed by Montbello to the tune of 71-37 on Friday. The Trojans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 21 points or more this season.

Longmont now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Fairview, their victory bumped their record up to 6-1.
