Basketball Recap: Friday's Defeat Ends Savannah Athletic Association's Winning Streak

It was a good run, but Savannah Athletic Association unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 62-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Patrick Henry Academy Patriots.

Despite the defeat, Savannah Athletic Association had strong showings from Natalie Santos, who went 14 for 20 on her way to 32 points in addition to five assists and five boards, and Chloe McNew, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 16 rebounds. The match was Santos' seventh in a row with at least ten points.

Patrick Henry Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Laney Futch, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine steals. Futch is also on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last eight games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Lillian Lucas, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds.

Savannah Athletic Association's loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-7. As for Patrick Henry Academy, they pushed their record up to 5-2 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.
