Basketball Recap: South Greene Extends Home Winning Streak to Ten

With a playoff win on the line, South Greene rose to the challenge on Saturday. They came out on top against the Oneida Indians by a score of 64-54. Given the Rebels' advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 132nd, while the Indians are ranked 290th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

South Greene's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Chandler Gamble, who shot 50% from the field on his way to 22 points and five boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which Gamble has scored at least a third of South Greene's points. Elgin Gentry was another key player, going 7-for-12 en route to 18 points.

South Greene was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Oneida only eight assists.

Despite the loss, Oneida still got an impressive performance from Grady Keeton, who shot 58% from the field to rack up 26 points. Keeton continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Ben Gilbert, who posted four points and nine rebounds.

South Greene's victory was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-9. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.0 points over those games. As for Oneida, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 12 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-19 record this season.

South Greene has already played their next contest (against Austin-East), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Oneida does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
