Lakewood is 1-9 against Rosewood since March of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. Lakewood will look to defend their home field against Rosewood at 6:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Lakewood took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Hobbton with a sharp 18-7 victory. The high-scoring effort was just what the Leopards needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.
Caitlyn Bass made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. She also put up four walks, which were her first of the season. She was even better at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Karizma Freeman was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBI, two stolen bases, and two runs. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Alyssa Faircloth was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-3.
Lakewood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .703. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hobbton only posted an OBP of .346.
Meanwhile, Rosewood got themselves on the board against James Kenan on Monday, but James Kenan never followed suit. They blew past the Tigers 10-0. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by seven runs or more this season.
Hayley Bedford was incredible, firing off two home runs, two stolen bases, and three runs while going 3-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylie Huffman, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double.
Rosewood pushed their record up to 9-2 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.1 runs on average over those games. As for Lakewood, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-6-1 record this season.
Lakewood suffered a grim 20-1 defeat to Rosewood in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Lakewood avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
