Soccer Game Preview: Contreras vs. Roybal

Contreras and Roybal are an even 4-4-2 against one another since December of 2019, but likely not for long. The Contreras Cobras will square off against the Roybal Titans at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Contreras' offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Contreras is likely headed into the match with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Mendez on Wednesday. Contreras came up short against Mendez, falling 4-0. While losing is never fun, the Cobras can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 792nd, while the Jaguars are ranked 372nd).

Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Roybal's offense. They lost 4-0 to Belmont on Wednesday.

Roybal's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4-1. As for Contreras, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6-3.

Contreras was able to grind out a solid win over Roybal when the teams last played back in February of 2024, winning 3-1. Will Contreras repeat their success, or does Roybal have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
