Baseball Game Preview: Rio Vista Rams vs. Lindhurst Blazers

Rio Vista is a perfect 3-0 against Lindhurst since April of 2024 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Rams are taking a road trip to challenge the Blazers at 4:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Rio Vista is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Delta just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They lost 10-4 to the Saints.

Emmett Medders was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Rio Vista is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 8-10 otherwise. Medders was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run. He has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last nine times he's played.

Medders wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was RJ Lea, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one double.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 30 runs the game before, Lindhurst was a bit more limited in their match on Tuesday. They came up short against Rio Vista, falling 8-2. The defeat continues a trend for the Blazers in their meetings with the Rams: they've now lost three in a row.

Lindhurst's loss dropped their record down to 8-16. As for Rio Vista, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-11.

Everything went Rio Vista's way against Lindhurst when the teams last played on Tuesday, as Rio Vista made off with an 8-2 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rams since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
