Mater Dei had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They came out on top against the Metro-East Lutheran Knights by a score of 54-46. That's more bragging rights for Mater Dei, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Gavin Peppenhorst was his usual excellent self, going 11 for 20 on his way to 25 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals. Luke Brefeld was another key player, putting up 12 points and three steals.

Mater Dei's win bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Metro-East Lutheran, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 7-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mater Dei will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Litchfield at 7:30 p.m. on January 6, 2025. Metro-East Lutheran will also get a bit of a break before their next match: they'll face off against Jersey at 7:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
