After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Hibriten, Freedom was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They blew past the Shelby Golden Lions 11-3. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by six runs or more this season.
KYLE SELF was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only three walks, the fewest he's had since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.
In other batting news, KADEN MICHAELS and ZACH CARSON did most of the damage at the plate: MICHAELS went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while CARSON scored three runs while going 2-for-4. CARSON has become a key player for Freedom: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-3 otherwise. CAM UREN was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
Freedom's record is now 6-4. As for Shelby, they dropped their record down to 1-8 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Freedom will host South Caldwell at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. South Caldwell will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something Freedom surely won't give up without a fight. As for Shelby, they will square off against Highland Tech at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Highland Tech is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.
