Volleyball Recap: Vasquez Starts Season with Victory on the Road

Vasquez had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They put the hurt on the Gorman Learning Charter - Antelope Valley Eagles with a sharp 3-0 victory on Thursday. That's more bragging rights for the Mustangs, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Vasquez took every set by at least 12 points. The final score came out to 25-13, 25-13, 25-12.

Diego Camacho paced Vasquez's offense, picking up 14 kills. Camacho got some help from Fernando Vazquez and his 27 assists. Camacho also made an impact serving: he shared the team lead in aces with Miko Wilmond, racking up four apiece.

This is the second loss in a row for Gorman Learning Charter - Antelope Valley and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Vasquez will venture away from home to face off against Knight at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Gorman Learning Charter - Antelope Valley, they will challenge Vasquez at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
