Newburyport waltzed into their match on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against Pentucket Regional. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 5-0 back in April.

Jack Oreal spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits and racked up nine Ks.

Newburyport's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Pentucket Regional, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.

Newburyport will host Lynnfield at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Pioneers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Clippers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Pentucket Regional, they are taking a road trip to challenge Essex North Shore Agric & Tech School at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
