Softball Game Preview: St. Marys Blue Devils vs. Cameron Dragons

The St. Marys Blue Devils will challenge the Cameron Dragons at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

St. Marys easily dispatched Williamstown on Thursday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Blue Devils fell just short of Gilmer County by a score of 4-2 on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Blue Devils have suffered since March 31st.

St. Marys saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kinley Thomas, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Cameron's offense. They came up short against Madonna on Friday, falling 8-0. The loss continues a trend for the Dragons in their meetings with the Blue Dons: they've now lost seven in a row.

Lexi Bogard spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and six unearned) runs on ten hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

Cameron's defeat dropped their record down to 6-11. As for St. Marys, their loss dropped their record down to 9-14.
