Baseball Game Preview: Moss Point Tigers vs. Pascagoula Panthers

Moss Point is 1-9 against Pascagoula since April of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. A feisty cat fight will be fought as the Tigers take on the Panthers at 2:00 p.m. Moss Point has given up an average of 8 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Moss Point is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 15 runs on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Hattiesburg on Friday. They lost 14-2 to Hattiesburg. The contest marked Moss Point's lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Moss Point saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jonovan Thompson, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Pascagoula was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of St. Stanislaus.

Pascagoula's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Moss Point, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Moss Point has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Pascagoula struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
