Basketball Recap: Cienega's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Saturday

After flying high against Lincoln Prep on Saturday, Cienega came back down to earth. The Bobcats took a hard 48-29 fall against the Cactus Shadows Falcons on Saturday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Falcons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 48-19 on Friday.

When it comes to explaining why Cienega lost, don't look at Isabel Elisea. Despite the final result, she posted 12 points. Elisea is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as she's posted one of at least 46% in the last three games she's played.

Mateja Cousins had another great game (as she tends to do), shooting 55% from the field to rack up 18 points and six boards for Cactus Shadows. Jacelyn Cathey was another key player, putting up nine points.

Cienega moved to 4-3 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Cactus Shadows, they pushed their record up to 8-0 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Cienega wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 64-27 win against Casa Grande on the 2nd. As for Cactus Shadows, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 50-7 victory against Westview on the 3rd.
