Recap: Monarch Coyotes vs. Mountain Range Mustangs
The Monarch Coyotes scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They came out on top against Mountain Range by a score of 82-71. The victory was familiar territory for Monarch who now have five in a row.
Monarch's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Evan Trujillo, who scored 23 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Trujillo has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Carlson, who scored 19 points along with four steals.
Mountain Range lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Preston Brunton, who scored 24 points. Brunton hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. Quincy Helsel was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Monarch pushed their record up to 9-3 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.8 points per game. As for Mountain Range, their loss dropped their record down to 7-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Monarch will challenge Fort Collins at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Fort Collins' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last eight matchups. As for Mountain Range, they will head out on the road to take on Fairview at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Allowing an average of 60.9 points per game, Fairview has struggled on the defensive end, but that doesn't have to be the case in this game.
