Basketball Recap: Overton Piles Up the Points Against Stratford

Overton came into Friday's contest having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They really took it to the Stratford Spartans for the full four quarters, racking up a 63-34 win. The Bobcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matches by 29 points or more this season.

Overton's win on Friday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tahj McLemore, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten boards. Another player making a difference was Jehmel Madison, who posted 12 points in addition to six assists and five rebounds.

Overton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Despite the defeat, Stratford had strong showings from Joseph Campbell, who had ten points, and Anthony Merrill, who put up eight points.

The victory got Overton back to even at 5-5. As for Stratford, they dropped their record down to 1-8 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home.

Overton is taking a road trip to square off against Stem Preparatory Academy at 7:30 p.m. on December 20th. Stem Preparatory Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.5 points per game this season. As for Stratford, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 50-33 win against McGavock on the 16th.
